The Van That Can
The vehicle that invented a new form of light goods transport in 1948, is more of an innovation today than ever before. Incredibly compact dimensions, unbeatable manoeuvrability, “real commercial” load capacity, and many different versions and engines to meet any requirement.
No other commercial vehicle in the world has a similar heritage.
For sixty years now these 3-wheel vehicles have been travelling the roads of the world, transporting a variety of goods to their destination. The Ape wrote one of the most significant chapters in the story of urban mobility and light goods transport. It’s a truly unique vehicle, a real one-of-a-kind, and in a way an icon amongst means of transport. Anyone, closing their eyes, can imagine an Ape. Its unmistakable outline has travelled the length and breadth of our nations, also through time and space, in Italy and all over the world.
The Ape is very much a part of Italian history, the brainchild of aeronautical designer Corradino d’Ascanio, it went into production thanks to the foresight of Enrico Piaggio, over half a century ago.
